International criminal prosecution is seen by some as an essential tool to end impunity and reduce the extraordinary impact that war crimes and crimes against humanity have on civilians who are trapped in war.  Others criticize international prosecution as simply another form of Westerners attempting to impose their view of justice on a skeptical world while ignoring and silencing the voices of the victims and the communities from which they come.

From trauma to healing: The Syrian refugee crisis

Dawn Penner, a specialist in psychology/counseling and war trauma recovery, will speak about her time in Lebanon with Mennonite Central Committee. Over the course of three months, she trained Syrian and Palestinian refugees in trauma healing as a response to violence experienced in the Syrian conflict. A time for discussion and refreshments will follow the talk. Admission is free, with food and drinks provided. Donations are welcome.
