Yuri Langlois
Yuri Langlois brings solid experience and expertise in urban design to the field of academia. Currently serving as Supervisor of Urban Design with the Region of Waterloo, Yuri has dedicated his career to shaping and inspiring sustainable and vibrant communities.
Yuri's educational background is both comprehensive and interdisciplinary, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. With a Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning Technician & GIS from Mohawk College and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Honours Planning Co-op from the University of Waterloo, Yuri laid a solid foundation in planning theory and practice. However, driven by a desire to challenge the status quo in the planning field, Yuri pursued advanced studies at University College London, UK, where he earned a Master of Science in Urban Design and Planning in 2020 from the Bartlett School of Planning. This international experience has provided Yuri with a global perspective on urban challenges and solutions, enriching his approach to teaching and research.
Throughout his career, Yuri has had the privilege of working in various capacities, both in the public and private sectors, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of urban design. From working in municipal governments to private firms, Yuri continues to sharpen his skills in urban design, policy analysis, and community engagement. This diverse professional background equips Yuri with a nuanced understanding of real-world planning issues, which he brings into the classroom to inspire the next generation of planning professionals.
