Understanding housing challenges in gentrifying Detroit: Grassroots Efforts to Preserve Senior Housing

This talk will discuss the work of a coalition, Senior Housing Preservation Detroit, that is raising awareness of the housing challenges facing seniors in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Research on experiences of forced displacement will be also presented, offering insights from seniors displaced from HUD housing when their government housing went market rate. The talk will conclude with strategic goals and possible approaches to reach these goals.
