Irresponsible conduct of research is one type of academic misconduct.

The general principles of integrity whether it be personal, academic, or research are the same. These include:

  • Honesty
  • Trust
  • Fairness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility

Irresponsible conduct of research is a violation of the principles of intellectual honesty, including the misappropriation of writings, research, and discoveries of others. This includes: 

  • False recording
  • Manipulation of reporting of information
  • Plagiarism
  • Unauthorized use of confidential research results of others
