Sheryl Kennedy is CEO of Promontory Financial Group Canada, an IBM Company, a global consulting firm providing strategy, risk management, and regulatory compliance advice and execution support to the financial services industry. Sheryl joined Promontory in 2009 after a 28-year career in federal public service, including serving as deputy governor of the Bank of Canada from 1994-2008. She was chair of the Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee and the Markets Committee at the Bank for International Settlements and served as senior adviser for international strategy on executive interchange to Scotiabank in Toronto in 2006. Sheryl was awarded the Women in Capital Markets Leadership Award in 2007. She previously worked for the Department of Finance of the government of Canada as general director of the financial sector policy branch. In addition to her work at Promontory, Sheryl is a director of the Canadian Public Accountability Board, which regulates the auditors of public companies, HIPPY Canada (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youth) and is a Trustee of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada Pension Plans. A graduate of University of Waterloo’s School of Urban and Regional Planning, Sheryl also has a master’s degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and studied finance at the London School of Economics.
