The Pension Investment Committee (PIC) is a subcommittee of the Pension & Benefits Committee that is mandated to oversee the investment of the assets of the University of Waterloo Pension Plan (Pension Plan). The Committee:
- Makes recommendations to the Pension & Benefits Committee with respect to the selection and termination of investment managers for the Pension Plan;
- Monitors performance of external fund managers;
- Regularly reviews the Plan’s assets for compliance with the Board-approved Responsible Investment Policy on behalf of the Pension & Benefits Committee;
- Reviews the investment returns of the Pension Plan assets, with respect to acceptable risk tolerances; and
- Approves asset mix changes and investment decisions in compliance with the Statement of Investment Policy and Procedures (SIPP) and Fund Implementation Procedures (FIP) with respect to transactions representing less than 20% of the Plan’s total assets.
