This Committee focuses on all issues related to the academic quality of graduate students and research activity within the University.
Some examples include:
- Making recommendations to Senate with respect to rules and regulations for the governance and management, regulations or policies for graduate studies;
- Recommending to Senate new or major changes to graduate programs;
- Approving and advising Senate of new graduate courses and deletion of graduate courses;
- Recommending to Senate the establishment or closure of centres and institutes
- Approving and advising Senate on renewals of centres and institutes;
- Approving and advising Senate of new graduate scholarships and awards; and
- Recommending to Senate financial matters to Senate with respect to graduate studies and research.
The Vice-President, Research and International and the Associate Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs are co-chairs of the Graduate & Research Council.
