This group is open to all Black women, non-binary snd gender non-conforming students at University of Waterloo. This is a space to explore a variety of issues like race, relationships, mental health, and self-worth.
Workshop
A 6-week closed group that will be a mix of psycho-education, processing and skills development for survivor of sexual violence.
Going home during holiday breaks can be a challenging time for survivors of sexual violence. This workshop will aim to address the additional stressors that can come during this time.
As part of Consent Week, this training will provide skills to help people intervene when they see a harmful, or potentially harmful, situation. Bystander intervention can help create a sense of belonging, care, and respect across our campus community.
As part of Consent Week, this workshop will discuss what sexual citizenship is, why it is important at university, and how it goes hand in hand with consent to create a campus that is respectful, considerate, and empowering to students.
In this workshop, we will share data about the unique ways sexual violence exists in the online dating world and examine generally held attitudes and perceptions.
In this interactive workshop we will discuss the ways society views sexual violence and how they are often problematic/based on outdated or incorrect information.
In this workshop we are going to discuss the origins of PRIDE. We will unpack the many layers that led to today's celebrations/honour of PRIDE and talk about the power imbalance leading to having a PRIDE month. We will also attempt to finally put an end to the question, "BUT WHEN IS STRAIGHT PRIDE MONTH?"
This workshop will discuss the way society views sexual violence and gender-based violence and how those views are often harmful, inaccurate of the facts, and are responsible for creating significant barriers to prevention and response regarding sexual violence.
