Dr. Ben Feng Receives 2025 OUSA Teaching Award
Ben Feng, Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and Director of the Master of Actuarial Science program, has been named the University of Waterloo recipient of the 2025 Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) Teaching Award.
Presented annually, the OUSA Teaching Award recognizes instructors who excel at unlocking the potential of Ontario students, inspiring curiosity, and creating meaningful learning experiences in the classroom. Each year, undergraduate students from all disciplines at the University of Waterloo submit nominations highlighting instructors who have made a lasting impact on their education.
Dr. Feng received student nominations recognizing his engaging teaching style, commitment to student success, and innovative classroom approaches. Students praised his ability to make complex actuarial concepts accessible through interactive simulations, visual explanations, games, and real-world examples.
As the University of Waterloo recipient, Dr. Feng attended OUSA’s annual Partners in Higher Education (PiHED) event held in Toronto to receive this award.
The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science congratulates Dr. Feng on this well-deserved recognition, and thanks him for his continued dedication to student learning and success.
