Funmilayo Adeku is an Instructional Support Coordinator in the department. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with MMath in Applied Mathematics, she also holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering with Design from the University of Manchester, England, and a BTech. (Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics from Nigeria.

Dina Dawoud

Dina Dawoud is a Lecturer in Statistics. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with an MMath in Biostatistics and holds Bachelor's degrees in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa.

Mirabelle Huynh is a Lecturer in Statistics and teaches a wide range of courses in the department. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BMath, MMath, and PhD in Actuarial Science. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

Emily Kozlowski

Emily Kozlowski is a Lecturer in Statistics and Actuarial Science and teaches a wide range of courses in the department. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BMath in ACTSC, an MMath in ACTSC, and holds a BEd from Queen’s University. She is also an associate of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

Riley Metzger

Riley Metzger is Undergraduate Officer for the department and lectures a wide range of Statistics courses. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with both a BMath and an MMath in Statistics and Actuarial Science.

Steve Van Doormaal is an Instructional Support Coordinator in the department and teaches a range of Statistics courses for non-specialists. He holds a BMath in Applied Mathematics, BSc in Biomedical Science, and a Master of Mathematics for Teachers, all from the University of Waterloo.

Financial Analysis and Risk Management

Peter Blake

Peter Blake is a Lecturer in FARM. He has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree (Chartered Accountancy - Co-op) from the University of Waterloo and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. After earning his Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) with Deloitte Touche in Toronto, Peter worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years in corporate and investment banking, the last 10 of which were spent with a large international bank, managing their financial institutions group.

Erik Hintz

Erik Hintz is a Lecturer in Statistics and Actuarial Science and teaches a wide range of courses in the department. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a MMath in Statistics and a PhD in Statistics. Erik also holds a BSc and MSc in Mathematics and Management from the University of Ulm (Germany).

Brent Matheson is the Director of the FARM program. He holds a Bachelor of Science, a Masters of Science in microbiology, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and subsequently a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter. He holds a Derivatives Market Specialist (DMS) designation through the Canadian Securities Institute.

Chartered Professional Accountancy

Peter Balka has been program director for the Math/CA program since 2006. Prior to his appointment as faculty lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo in 2003, Peter was a faculty member at the University of Alberta and at the College of the Rockies. Peter has a BSc and MSc (Biostatistics) from the University of Guelph.
