Our Alumni Team

Our Alumni Team is a group of passionate students who have previously participated in the Technovation Waterloo program. They aid in expanding the WiCS youth program’s reach, supporting program participants, and leading their own program initiatives. Our Alumni Team plays a key role in empowering girls and gender-diverse youth in their local community.

We are currently looking for students to join our 2026/27 season team!

As part of our Alumni Team, you will…

  • Volunteer at two or more events leading up to and during the Technovation Season, and at the end-of-season Regional Pitch Event
  • Help us promote the Technovation program in your school and local community
  • Act as a Technovation Waterloo spokesperson for events and media relations
  • Provide support, guidance, assistance, and motivation to Technovation participants and mentors
  • Help identify and implement new program activities, marketing strategies, and initiatives
  • Participate in an end-of-season review and suggest areas for improvement for future seasons
  • Attend monthly team meetings via Zoom (October 2026 – June 2027)

We are looking for individuals who…

  • Are at least 12 years old by August 1, 2027
  • Have participated (and submitted a project) in at least ONE season of Technovation with the Waterloo Chapter
  • Have good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Are comfortable working in or have an interest in learning Canva and other design software
  • Are committed to being an active member of the influencer program from October 2025 – May 2026

Technovation Global Student Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors are between the ages of 13 – 18 and have previously participated in one or more Technovation seasons. They work both with Technovation Global and the Waterloo Chapter throughout the season to support their peers and fellow Technovation participants, while also helping to expand the program reach. Through Technovation Global, they have access to exclusive opportunities including expert-led webinars, global networking events, and specialised training.

NEW for the 2026/2027 season! Student Ambassadors in the Waterloo Chapter will be assigned a group of teams to support throughout the program. This will involve checking up with the teams regularly via official Waterloo Chapter Channels, providing advice and guidance, and giving regular updates to the Waterloo Chapter Ambassador.

Student Ambassador applications are submitted directly to Technovation Global!

Community Engagement Team

Community Engagement Team members are between the ages of 12 – 18 and work exclusively with the Technovation Waterloo Chapter. At the beginning of the season, team members will be assigned to lead (or co-lead) one aspect of the Waterloo Chapter’s community engagement and marketing initiatives. Examples of these initiatives include creating regular blog posts on our website, creating digital media content, photographing and sharing event photos, conducting participant interviews, and much more!

Team members will collaborate with the Waterloo Chapter Ambassador to develop our promotion and marketing strategies based on interests, program needs, and member strengths.
