Come Up To My Room

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Come Up To My Room 2013 opens Thursday, January 24th, celebrating a decade exhibiting transformative design. Toronto's biggest alternative design show includes over 20 original site-specific installations by over 50 makers. This year, CUTMR introduces new initiatives that will transform the historic Gladstone Hotel both inside and out, spilling onto the hotel's exterior and into the surrounding neighbourhood.

CUTMR's trademark wondrous and bizarre melding of art and design is the product of a unique hands-off curatorial process in which exhibitors are given free rein over the Gladstone's spaces. For CUTMR's 10 Year Anniversary show, founding curators Christina Zeidler and Pamila Matharu have returned, and are joined by Noa Bronstein and David Dick-Agnew. A complete list of exhibitors can be found below.

CUTMR 2013 will also include special programming tied to the exhibition. On Saturday, January 26th, the annual Love Design party will attract revelers from across the city to the Gladstone's ballroom, which will feature a one-night-only design installation created specifically for this event. Sunday, January 27th, CUTMR presents Evolution: Design Conversations in a Collaborative City.
