On September 4, O'Donovan Director Maya Przybylski announced the appointment of Fiona Lim Tung as Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream.
Fiona Lim Tung is an accomplished designer and educator with a Master of Architecture from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, she was named to the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Honour Roll.
Her teaching experience spans multiple institutions, including the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, the University of Waterloo, and the interdisciplinary post-graduate program at the Institute Without Boundaries at George Brown College. Fiona's scholarly work focuses on drawing, and her design practice explores the intersection between high and low-tech fabrication methods in contemporary craft. Her work has been widely recognized, featured in various publications and exhibited in galleries nationwide.
Fiona's well-established track record as a collegial and dedicated community member is deeply valued; I'm thrilled to be working with Fiona in this new capacity and confident that she will continue to make significant contributions to our school
Fiona's teaching has been recognized in numerous ways, including a Faculty of Engineering Distinguished Performance Award (2023), an Outstanding Performance Award (2021), and a nomination for the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance Award for Teaching Excellence (2020).
Fiona's approach to architectural education is uniquely well-rounded, encompassing extensive experience in pre-professional, professional, and liberal arts-based teaching. Her contributions to scholarship have been recognized through numerous publications and presentations in Canada and abroad, with topics ranging from drawing as research to promoting equity in the classroom, and developing a pedagogy driven by joy and experimentation.
