Celebrate International Education Week - Alexandre Trudeau

November 18-22 is International Education Week at the University of Waterloo, the high point of which will be a visit to campus by renowned filmmaker and storyteller Alexandre Trudeau. The Waterloo Centre for German Studies is happy to be a leading sponsor of this event. Mr. Trudeau will be giving a keynote address to high school and university students (as well as anyone else who wishes to attend) about how his ability to speak multiple languages has enriched his life, both personally and professionally, and why he believes all students should have diverse opportunities for language learning and study abroad. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion featuring industry professionals, alumni and more, all part of the Goethe-Institut’s Career Booster – Global Experience Day.

We are seeing a push towards offering more courses online because they can provide students with new forms of social and learning interaction, widen their access to education, and offer an indi­vidualized learning experience in large classes.

As digital gaming has increased in popularity and become a global practice, computer-assisted language learning (CALL) researchers and second and foreign language (L2) educators have begun reconsidering games as potential L2 teaching and learning (L2TL) resources.

The Waterloo Colloquium on Language Teaching and Learning is the final part of the Certificate in University Language Teaching (CULT) workshops held this term. All are welcome to attend. Please download the schedule here.

The Waterloo Centre for German Studies hosted this international conference at the University of Waterloo. It brought together scholars from North American and European universities whose research investigated various facets of the post-secondary curriculum for teaching and learning German as a foreign and/or second language and culture.
