Lori Straus, who has been the Administrative Assistant at the Centre since 2013, will be leaving the Centre at the end of the year to devote more time to her freelance writing, and to begin part-time graduate studies. Lori has been a wonderful addition to the Centre, and her energy and enthusiasm will be missed.

Applications are now being accepted for this half-time (17.5 hours/week) position. Information about the responsibilities and how to apply can be found here. Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested.

Alice Kuzniar, University Research Chair and Professor of German and English, will be awarded the Hans-Walz Research Prize at a champagne reception on 1 December at the Robert Bosch Haus in Stuttgart for her work on the history of homeopathy.

Due to construction at Pearson Airport, our speaker just found out yesterday that her flight to Toronto has been cancelled and there were no alternatives. So we unfortunately have to cancel this afternoon's talk on data-driven language learning.

The Embassies of Switzerland, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Austria, in partnership with the Waterloo Centre for German Studies and Princess Cinemas, are hosting the German Language Film Festival this month.

Alice Kuzniar's new book, The Birth of Homeopathy out of the Spirit of Romanticism, has just been published by the University of Toronto Press.

Unfortunately, we've had to cancel Monday afternoon's lecture on the debate between Henry VIII and Martin Luther: Our speaker has fallen ill and is unable to travel.
