Desireh receives 2016 IMS Student Design Competition Award

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Desireh, PhD student at CIRFE received 2016 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) Student Design Competition Award in the category of Switchable RF-MEMS Filters.

Students from around the world were invited to participate in the student design competitions (SDCs) held at IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society 2016 International Microwave Symposium (IMS2016) in San Francisco, California, United States. The SDCs are one of the most energetic parts of the IMS.

This year’s contest theme is inspired by the upcoming availability of the 4.2GHz to 4.4GHz band for wireless avionics intra-communication (WAIC) for the implementation of wireless connectivity inside the passenger aircraft cabin. The switchable filter will be used to separate the ISM band (2.4 – 2.5GHz) from the WAIC band (4.2 – 4.4GHz). The filter requirements requested here, however, have been adapted to fit the spirit of a student-level competition.

Congratulations Desireh!
