Access to SciOn: Exam Administrators can view school results using the Exam Administrator User ID and password provided to administer the exam. If you registered for both the Chem 13 News and Avogadro exams, please confirm you are using the correct User ID and password, as you were sent a unique User ID and password for each exam. If Exam Administrators no longer have SciOn login credentials, please search your inbox, spam, and junk folders for the "UWaterloo SciOn Testing Platform user information" email you received in your inbox from noreply-scion@uwaterloo.ca, prior to contacting us at chem13news@uwaterloo.ca for assistance.
The administration of the exam is the responsibility of Dr. Laura Ingram of the University of Waterloo. Her decision is final.

Certificates and awards
Participants of both contests are eligible for a Certificate of Distinction and/or Participation. Top performing students from Canada and the United States receive recognition from the University of Waterloo.
Chem 13 News Exam Contest Scholarship
New for 2025! A Faculty of Science Contest Award valued at $1,000 will be provided to eligible students entering their first year of a full-time undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Science at Waterloo (excluding Aviation, Optometry, and Pharmacy) who have completed the Chem 13 News Exam in May 2025. If you have applied to Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials and Nanosciences, or Medicinal Chemistry in the Faculty of Science, you should consider writing the Chem 13 News Exam.
Please note: Exam results are not used as a criterion for admission to university studies. We do not share results with any admission committee. A Faculty of Science Contest Award is based on participation only. The University of Waterloo's Admissions Office will send details to students who receive an offer of admission on how to apply.
