Props & Set

There is a comprehensive stock of hand props and set pieces available to borrow or rent. Items used for class projects can be borrowed free of charge. A $20 deposit is required which will be returned once the item is returned in the same condition it was given out. For clubs or events, items are rented at a minimal cost depending on the size of the item.

In order to borrow or rent a prop or set piece, please contact Christopher Greenhalgh at least 3 weeks prior to the day you require the item(s).  Please include the required date of the items you would like to borrow.  Please set up a time to view the stock with your a group.

We reserve the right not to allow pieces to go out if they may be needed for any of our productions, or if they are too valuable, or too fragile.  Real guns, swords, or knives are not available. Toy weapons are fine.

Students are responsible for designating a space where the props can be stored before and after use in class. You are also responsible for returning the props to their storage location when they are no longer needed.

To get an idea of what we have in stock please check out our props web site or make an appointment to view the stock in person.

* Please note that the web site is not complete and may show props that are no longer in our inventory.

Costumes

There is a comprehensive stock of costume pieces (shoes, coats, dresses, shirts, suits, pants and skirts) and accessories available to borrow or rent. Items used for class projects can be borrowed free of charge. In general a deposit will only be required for those costume pieces deemed “highly” valuable by the Theatre and Performance program.

In order to borrow or rent a costume piece, please contact Nadine Grant via email at least 3 weeks prior to the day you require the item(s). You will need to meet with Nadine to discuss your project and what you would like to borrow/rent. Individual students are responsible for their own costume needs for class exercises. Students are also responsible to set a date and time with Nadine for the return of borrowed/rented costumes.

All items borrowed/rented are at the discretion of the Head of Wardrobe and/or Production Manager of the Theatre and Performance program. The Head of Wardrobe reserves the right not to allow pieces to go out if they may be needed for any of our productions, or if they are too fragile to be worn.

When costumes are borrowed/rented from the Wardrobe department a rental sheet is filled out with the replacement value of all garments and a copy is given to the renter/student. Students are responsible for all borrowed/rented costume pieces from the time they leave the Wardrobe department until they are returned back to the Wardrobe department.

Rules to remember:

  • No item is to be altered without prior approval from the Head of Wardrobe.
  • Eating, drinking or smoking while wearing costumes is prohibited.

  • If costumes are worn more than once, especially if they are worn next to the skin, arrangements have to be made to have them cleaned. Cleaning arrangements will be discussed with the Head of Wardrobe. If costumes need to be dry cleaned this cost will be paid by the student.

  • All items must be returned by the date specified and in the same or equivalent condition as borrowed/rented. If costumes are not returned the renter will have to pay the replacement value of the lost garment(s) as set by the Head of Wardrobe.

  • In the case of loss or irreparable damage the renter agrees to pay full replacement costs.

To get an idea of what we have in stock please make an appointment to view the stock in person.
