Case tracking: one community member tests positive

On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Region of Waterloo public health informed us of one individual who tested positive for COVID-19 and had visited our campus.

The individual is in self-isolation and did not have any known close contacts while on the campus.

If you have not been identified as a close contact of the individual, you should continue to follow our on-campus safety procedures including our campus check in screening daily, and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if needed.

Preparing for work in the fall and beyond

Update for employees

  • Employee presence on campus will begin to increase in the fall to support on campus experiences
  • If you need time away from work to get vaccinated, we are offering two hours of leave for your vaccination appointments
  • Longer-term planning for new ways of working is getting underway

What the extended COVID-19 shutdown and stay-at-home orders mean for spring term 2021

Update for graduate students

  • The province of Ontario has extended the current provincial shutdown and stay-at-home orders for 2 weeks – this affects in-person teaching, research and other operations on campus, including the beginning of spring term.  
  • Instructors will inform students about class format (in-person or remote) for the beginning of spring term (May 10, 2021) as soon as possible.
