Case tracking: five new cases in residence outbreak

Over the past weekend, Region of Waterloo public health informed us that an additional five people who live on or have visited our campus tested positive for COVID-19.

The cases are part of the outbreak of COVID-19 in University of Waterloo residences, bringing the total in the outbreak to 34.

What the COVID-19 provincial shutdown means for campus operations 

Update for students

  • The Region of Waterloo will move into a provincial shutdown effective April 3, 2021 for a period of 28 days, which affects teaching, research and other operations on campus.

  • Your Faculty, professor or academic advisors will be in touch with you to update you on any changes to your classes by Monday, April 6, 2021.

  • As we approach the long weekend, please do your part and don’t travel outside the region. 

  • In-person course activity will be transitioning to remote course activity, with some exceptions.

Update for students and employees

As you are all aware, we are currently working closely with Region of Waterloo public health officials to manage a serious outbreak of COVID-19 in our residence community.

I know this is a concern for our students and for employees who work in the residences. Please know that working together now is more important than ever as we seek to control this outbreak.
