Award description:
Two awards, each valued at $5,000, will be awarded annually to doctoral students registered full-time in Year Four or beyond in the School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts, with a preference for students in Year Five. The award will be given based on demonstrated financial need as determined by Waterloo. To be considered, students must complete the Graduate Student Award Application found on The Centre website and submit it to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs.
This fund is made possible by a donation from Harvey Bains and alumnus, Ben Kaak (BA ’82).

Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Graduate students registered full time in Year Four or beyond of the doctoral program in the School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts
- Preference will be given to students registered in Year Five
- The award may be given in addition to other funding the student may already be receiving
- Selection to be based on demonstrated financial need, as determined by UW
- Applicants should have a minimum average in their PhD program of 78%
- Candidates must complete the Graduate Student Award Application found on the GSPA website
- GSPA will select recipients normally each spring; should an eligible recipient not be found, the award will be promoted again the fall and/or winter term
