Award description:
One award valued at $5,000, will be awarded annually to a current or past graduate student who has successfully submitted and defended their thesis. The student's thesis must have focused on quantum-safe cryptography. The University of Waterloo Cryptography/Cryptoworks21 Selection Committee will select a recipient annually, reflecting back on theses submitted and defended in the last 12 months. Scientific excellence and application in quantum-safe cryptography are the criteria for the Thesis Award.

Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Full-time students who are undertaking a Master's or PhD in topics aligned with quantum-safe cryptography will be eligible.
- Students with academic excellence, taking into account grades, publications and other demonstrations of excellence. The student's research plan must be aligned to quantum safe cryptography and must have a supervisor willing to supervise in quantum-safe cryptography research.
