Award description:
A scholarship, valued at $2,000, will be awarded annually to a graduate student registered full-time in the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics. Selection will be based on academic excellence and demonstrated research in Mathematical Medicine. This fund is made possible by donations from friends and family to honour Siv Sivaloganathan, Chair of the University of Waterloo’s Department of Applied Mathematics from 2016 to 2023, and Professor of Applied Mathematics since 1990, who passed away on March 2, 2025, after a brief illness.

Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Graduate students registered full-time in the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics
- Selection to be made on the basis of academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent) and demonstrated research in Mathematical Medicine
- A committee within the Department of Applied Mathematics will identify candidates and select recipients, normally each spring
