Help design the campus of tomorrow at the Campus Plan Open Houses

A view of the BMH Green with "2 Campus Plan Open Houses" banner.

By Sam Toman.

The University of Waterloo’s Campus Plan is getting closer to completion — and there’s no better time to share your input.

Just like cities have urban plans, Waterloo’s Campus Plan provides a long-term roadmap for how our spaces will evolve to support learning, research, sustainability, and community over the next decade and beyond. Since early 2025, the Campus Plan team has engaged students, faculty, and staff through surveys, consultations, and open houses to gather ideas about how campus spaces can better serve our community.

On Wednesday, November 5, the team will host two Phase 3 Open Houses to share the draft Campus Plan—including interesting potential designs and early concepts for the campus of the future. These sessions mark one of the last opportunities to offer feedback before the plan is finalized.

Each event features interactive displays, opportunities to speak with the project team from Brook McIlroy, and a sneak peek at what’s ahead for areas like sustainability, green space, housing, mobility, and accessibility.

Student Life Centre (SLC)

  • Location: Student Life Centre, Black and Gold Room
  • Event Time: 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Presentation: 1:00 p.m.
  • Q&A: Immediately following the presentation (until approximately 1:50 p.m.)
  • Additional Time: Explore displays and speak with the project team after the Q and A

Engineering 7 (E7)

  • Location: Engineering 7, Rooms 2317 and 2357
  • Event Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Presentation: 10:30 a.m.
  • Q&A: Immediately following the presentation (until approximately 11:20 a.m.)
  • Additional Time: Explore displays and speak with the project team after the Q and A

This is a casual, drop-in event open to all members of the campus community. No registration required — just drop by the session that works best for you.

Welcome back to Cyber Awareness Month with The Goose & Friends – week four

A cartoon illustration of the Faculty of Arts Mascot Porcellino wearing an orange sweatshirt and carrying schoolbooks.

A message from Information Systems & Technology (IST).

Last week, The Goose discovered how two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to their accounts. This week, The Goose stumbles into device security mishaps — and the University of Waterloo mascots step in with lessons to keep devices safe from malware and attackers.

Tip #4 – Layer your defenses: Qualys Agent scans for weaknesses; SentinelOne Agent stops active threats. Proactive scans. Real-time defense. Security takes both!Shape

The Libraries need your feedback

A student with long dark hair is sitting at a study desk using a laptop in a quiet, well-lit room.

A message from the Libraries.

The University of Waterloo Libraries launched LibBot, a website chatbot, in spring 2025 to provide users 24/7 support. To better understand how it's being used and guide future improvements, we’re looking for faculty, staff and students who would be interested in providing their feedback.

We are looking for participants available for a 30 – 45-minute online session between Nov 3 – 14, where they will complete a series of tasks using the chatbot to provide us with your feedback. If you are interested in participating, please sign up by Wednesday, October 29: faculty, staff or students.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact Alys Zhao, project coordinator.

What Were You Wearing? exhibit coming to the SLC

What were you wearing banner featuring illustration of articles of clothing.

A message from the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO).

The Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) is once again bringing the What Were You Wearing? Survivor Art Exhibit to UWaterloo. The exhibit is based on student-survivor descriptions of the clothing they were wearing when they experienced sexual violence.

Although progress is being made, we live in a society that still wrongfully blames victims for the harm they experience. Sexual violence is normalized, minimized and silenced. The myth that clothing causes sexual violence, along with many other myths, are used to blame survivors and justify the actions of those who cause harm. Survivors are never to blame. The intent of this exhibit is to bring awareness and attention to the pervasiveness of sexual violence and victim blaming, debunk harmful myths and provide education about preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors.

The “What Were You Wearing?” art exhibit was inspired by Dr. Mary Simmerling’s poem, What I was Wearing, and was created at the University of Arkansas in 2013 by Jen Brockman and Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert.

The exhibit runs from Wednesday, October 29 to Thursday, October 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the SLC multipurpose room.

Everyone is welcome.Engage with the exhibit at your own pace
