The Ontario Earth and Space Science high school course (SES 4UI) has been aligned with our first year EARTH 121 course at Waterloo in partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB). This specific SES course will be recognized for credit for students entering an Earth Sciences program at the University of Waterloo. The SES course aims to instill awareness, enthusiasm, and passion for the geosciences. It provides an opportunity to start early on a career path in the geosciences. Geoscience represents an important cornerstone in Canada’s economy. It is a fast growing discipline in need of many new professionals to maintain Canada’s leadership in the world-wide resource and environment industry.
Teachers in the WRDSB and WCDSB work with professors in the Faculty to Science on professional development days, field trips, and other activities. This allows them to keep current on emerging trends and opportunities in the geosciences to prepare students for a fulfilling and successful career.
