Open-ended Robotics Project

Lego Scribbler

Overview

Using the Lego Mindstorms NXT platform, students are able to build a near limitless variety of robots: from 3D printers to pet dogs. While working in a team, students are asked to program and design their robots in a short month and a half, and at the end exhibit their projects to fellow peers, the teaching team, and others. Through this, students gain valuable experience in product design, mechanical assembly, and software and hardware debugging. This project neatly incorporates mechanical design with software design, exposing students to a complete engineering design cycle, while allowing them to grow as team members.
