The Pearl Sullivan Engineering IDEAs Clinic supplements a traditional engineering curriculum with open-ended activities designed to spark student self-learning and exploration. These activities allow for students to experience real-world problems helping them to develop solid engineering principals. Students often find connections between courses in their curriculum; apply their analysis skills to complex, open-ended problems; and exercise their creativity, judgement, problem solving, and soft skills such as communication and teamwork through these activities.
The Pearl Sullivan Engineering IDEAs Clinic Activity Pitch Competition provides the opportunity for graduate students in the engineering faculty to make such an activity that will help students become competent and innovative engineers. Contestants are expected to create a 7-minute pitch to describe their activity.
The pitch presentation date is November 4th, 2024, from 5:00pm-8:00pm. If you cannot make this, email crennick@uwaterloo.ca to explore alternative dates.
Eligibility
This contest is open to current registered graduate (masters and PhD) students within the Faculty of Engineering.
Prize Amount
Cash prizes will be awarded to first-place ($1000), second-place ($500), and third-place ($250). Exceptional contestants may be considered for future employment opportunities with the IDEAs Clinic.
