Spring 2025 Toyota Innovation Challenge
Registration for the 2025 event has now closed.
The spring 2025 Toyota Innovation Challenge will take place on May 24-25. There will be both a software-focussed challenge, and a mechanical-focussed challenge. Teams will register for one or the other. The event schedule is:

This year’s challenge is a robotics challenge, and students will get a chance to work hands-on with small robotics platforms throughout the event.
This event is open to students from any program, in any year of study, though prior programming knowledge is required for the software challenge (particularly Python).
The Toyota Innovation Challenge is a 2-day event, jointly held by the Engineering Ideas Clinic and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC), and is a great opportunity for students to work on real problems from the manufacturing sector while improving their engineering skills. With a mix of software and hardware challenges, all students will be hands-on developing and testing their solutions.
Engineers from TMMC are on hand to introduce a real problem they face in their manufacturing environments before students are let loose to solve the problem over the course of the next 2 days. TMMC return at the end of the weekend to judge student designs and give feedback on how they could be improved.
This event is open to students from any program, in any year of study. Workshops beforehand build the foundational skills necessary to succeed in the challenge. This event is welcoming to all, and is designed so that all students have a fun, and meaningful learning experience.
Prior events have taken place in October 2022, May 2023, October 2023, and May 2024. The next scheduled Challenge will be held in May 2025.
