The Great Lakes Fishery Commission last week presented Mr. John Jackson, Chair of the Canadian Committee of Advisors of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, with the C.D. "Buzz" Besadny Award for fostering Great Lakes partnerships. The award, which the Commission presents annually, recognized Mr. Jackson for his tireless commitment to uniting the environmental non-governmental community and to developing effective communication with officials in Canada and the United States, and for providing strong leadership on the Canadian Committee of Advisors.
ERS Professor Jennifer Clapp was awarded for Excellence in Graduate Supervision at Spring Convocation June 10th, 2014.
As filmmaker Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic makes a splash on theatre screens, Wildlife Preservation Canada has selected Martin Kastner, a student from Waterloo's Faculty of Environment, for “Canada’s New Noah,” a program providing practical training and field experience in managing and conserving endangered species.
Professor Rob de Loë, water governance and policy specialist from the Department of Environment and Resource Studies at Waterloo, has been named Canadian Co-Chair for the Great Lakes Water Quality Board by the International Joint Commission (IJC). Congratulations Rob!

The Faculty of Environment is proud to announce that The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation today recognized Jennifer Clapp for her work in the area of global environmental and food policy by awarding her a prestigious Trudeau fellowship.
Professor Jennifer Clapp, from the Department of Environment and Resource Studies at Waterloo, conducts research that looks at the effect of global trade, financial markets and investment on world hunger and the environment. She is Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security and Sustainability.
Join Department Chair, Professor Stephen Murphy and some of your other favourite ERS professors as we welcome back graduates from all years.
