The University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) launched the Sustainable Futures Mentorship Program (SFMP) in the 2021-22 school year. The program’s goal is to support students in their academic careers by sharing insights and advice from their colleagues, environmental practitioners, and industry professionals. In addition to providing opportunities for collaboration and networking, the program aims to enhance student happiness and wellbeing. Sessions are open to all Waterloo students and will cover an array of topics including co-op placements, graduate school opportunities, securing entry-level jobs, and career options.
Each session will include at least one guest speaker who will discuss their experiences, offer advice, and answer student questions. We then pivot to discussions and questions relevant to the SERS student experience (e.g., wellbeing, co-op, classes, extracurricular activities, honours thesis projects, volunteer experiences).
All University of Waterloo students are welcome and encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and build connections between faculties.
Please note, this is not a forum for questions related to degree structure/requirements—those are best answered by either the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and Advisor (sers-ug@uwaterloo.ca) or Graduate Program Coordinator and Advisor (sers-grd@uwaterloo.ca).
