Geochemistry Research Laboratory

This laboratory is fully serviced for conducting geochemical analyses and experiments. The goal of the experiments is to improve our understanding of mechanisms controlling the fate of contaminants in groundwater, surface water, and soils.

Methlymercury analyzer

  • Automated Tekran 2700 Methyl Mercury Analysis System
  • Fully-integrated, gas chromatography, cold-vapor atomic fluorescence spectrophotometer (GC-CVAFS)
  • Direct vial purge for simplified operation
  • Capable of interfacing to ICP/MS to yield isotopic ratios for methyl mercury

  • Tekran 2750 Mercury Distillation System
  • Actively cooled water bath eliminates the need for ice
  • Precision PID temperature controlled aluminum heating block
  • Programmable timer allows automatic shut off of the heater, chiller and purge gas supply at the completion of the distillation cycle
  • Small footprint (26”W x 22”D)

  • Coy® Vinyl Anaerobic Chamber
  • Two fully operational fume hoods, outfitted with sinks and gas valves, used for short-term sample preparation
