BKI '17: Erin, Lawyer
Erin is a 2017 BKI grad who has been working as a lawyer at the Kitchener Crown Attorney's office since 2021 after her call to the bar and completing her JD from Queen's University. In Erin’s 3 years as a lawyer she has prosecuted a variety of offences including impaired driving, domestic violence related offences, sexual assault, aggravated assault, drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. Erin is recently working on a team that deals primarily with youth accused people, as well as people whose mental health has a nexus with their offending behaviour.
Erin shares, "As a lawyer, persuasion and effective communication are keys to success. KI taught me so much about making connections and communicating at different levels. Those are skills I employ every day in my advocacy. It also taught me to collaborate more effectively with others. At the end of the day, a lot of law is collaborative and not adversarial. 'Playing well with others' is essential!"
