Sylvie, a 2nd year Knowledge Integration student, worked as a Production Assistant at Theatre Collingwood in Collingwood, Ontario.
In 2023, Sylvie spent eight weeks at Theatre Collingwood, and loved it so much that she returned for another ten-week stint in summer 2024. As a Production Assistant, she gained hands-on experience in content creation, office administration, sales, and front-of-house management. She had the opportunity to work on numerous projects, one being a month-long outdoor theatre festival. Sylvie highlights that her favourite part of the job was leading a summer drama camp, where she worked with children aged 7-12 to create their very own mini-musical! To wrap up her summer, Sylvie created a detailed report on the season, compiling qualitative insights with creative graphs to summarize the team’s hard work.
Reflecting on her experience, Sylvie shares, “Working at Theatre Collingwood was the perfect opportunity to combine my organizational strengths with my interest in live theatre. In a small and comfortable work environment, I developed skills in marketing, sales, office administration, and graphic design—all in all, an amazing summer experience!”
