INTEG 375 Special Topics: Gender Equity

Gender equity initiatives seek to create equal opportunities for all people, regardless of gender. They aim to improve the status, empowerment, and participation of women and girls in key social institutions, such as the economy, workplaces, schools, families, and popular culture. Reaching equity goals requires large-scale collaboration among many types of people, including researchers, policy makers, activists, and community leaders. This interdisciplinary course explores the nature of gender equity problems and strategies for improving equity, and will emphasize the connections between gender, race, class, and sexuality. Students will come away with the ability to think critically about how gender inequality is reproduced, and will possess useful knowledge and skills to help promote equity.
