In this talk, KI professor John McLevey will discuss some provocative findings from recent research on lifestyle politics and opinion polarization, and will compare two socio-cognitive theories that plausibly explain how lifestyle and opinion polarization works, and when it is likely to scale to dangerous levels. Then, he will explore the implications of these theories by simulating thousands of artificial societies and... seeing what happens.
