Planning for grad school
Are you curious about grad school? This information session will cover the essential information you need to know about putting together competitive applications for (1) graduate programs in Canada and internationally, regardless of discipline; and (2) scholarship funding from the Canadian tri-agencies, Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). We'll start with general questions about what graduate school is like and how it differs from undergraduate education and how to make smart future-oriented decisions about where you apply. Then we'll discuss issues related to how you present yourself and your research interests to the selection committees of programs you might be interested in, how to put together the strongest funding applications you possibly can to the relevant funding agency, and how to evaluate any potential offers you might receive. We will devote a significant amount of time to open Q&A, but of course you are welcome to attend even if you do not have specific questions.
