George Orwell was the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair, a British author, journalist and critic.  Best known for writing Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, Blair wrote several influential essays and stories. Borrow something from the Library’s collection, and head down to Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) to see even more!

Did you know…?

Despite dying at the age of 46, Blair lived a varied life working as a police officer in Burma, fighting in the Spanish Civil War, and producing radio propaganda for the BBC during World War Two.
