Machine Learning in GIS: Using TensorFlow for RastersExport this event to calendar

Thursday, November 21, 2019 — 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM EST

Machine Learning is all over the news in the tech world. How can GIS users make use of this technology for their research and work?

This workshop focuses in on the GIS application of Machine Learning, including for raster analysis and how deep learning can aid in extracting vector features from imagery. GIS users and enthusiasts are invited to join us in learning about this exciting new application of data science.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Know how Support Vector Machines (SVM) works to create distinct classes from raster imagery
  • Know how Kriging is used to interpolate spatial data
  • Understand the problems of uncritical use of machine learning in GIS
  • Know how to use TensorFlow to implement your own machine learning algorithm in raster imagery
