Associate University Librarians Annie Bélanger and Pascal Calarco are part of ARL's 2013-2015 LFP Program, an 18-month executive leadership fellowship designed and sponsored by ARL member libraries that helps develop future senior-level leaders in large research libraries. The University of Waterloo is a co-sponsoring library with the University of Guelph Library.

“The program is a leadership development and succession planning project more broadly for senior leadership at research libraries in the US and Canada,” says Pascal Calarco. “Fellows are exposed to different ARL libraries and spend time with Library Directors and some of the people that an ARL Director works with, including the senior administration within each library, the Provost, CIO, HR and others. There are plenty of Canadians in the cohort this year, which has been great, as we share with our US colleagues how Canadian libraries are the same and different, and the Canadians learn more about US contexts.”
So far Annie Bélanger and Pascal Calarco have attended institutes at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh, North Carolina. They will be visiting University of Toronto in the summer and then Purdue University in the Fall. The University of Waterloo and University of Guelph will close off the LFP 2013-2015 program as the hosting institutions next March.
