Those wishing to find a spot to study at our Libraries can now check how busy our various study spaces are before you visit by going to the library homepage or bookmarking our page on Waitz to view live occupancy levels of specific floors or spaces within our libraries.
Newly installed sensors in the libraries anonymously scan bluetooth and WiFi signal activity to estimate the number of people within an area to 95% accuracy without collecting any personal data.
Having a central place to study or work, whether that’s alone or with a group, is critically important to the campus community. Making it easier for library users to find those spaces saves people time and stress.
This sentiment was confirmed in the library user survey we conducted earlier this year, and this project is one example of our ongoing work to enhance and improve our spaces and services in support of the campus community.
