Beth Sandore Namachchivaya begins her role as University Librarian today, August 1, 2017.
As University Librarian, she will be a member of the University’s senior leadership team and will provide overall direction for the delivery of library services and resources to meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of Waterloo’s diverse academic community.
Beth brings significant leadership experience specific to academic libraries, expertise in research and information technology, and has led the development of information discovery systems and digital preservation programs.
Beth was formerly Associate University Librarian for Research, Associate Dean of Libraries, and Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She has also been Visiting Librarian at University of California, Berkeley Library and California Digital Library, and has participated in the Research Library Leadership Fellows program of the Association of Research Libraries. Beth has a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from The College of Wooster in Ohio, and received her Masters from the Graduate Library School at the University of Chicago.
