The lounge area in the Dana Porter Library is looking livelier these days, thanks to a new student display showcasing a project that Heather MacDonald created for Professor Susan Roy’s Public History class last term.

The display entitled “Working Women in Canada from 1930-1950” consists of images that tell the story of working-class women’s relationships with labour and Canadian society from 1938 to 1955.

“The images follow the lives of two, fictional, women born in 1922," reads MacDonald's display description. "They represent larger themes and by no means represent all women. They are symbolic of the nuances of history and of the importance of understanding historical actors on their terms, through their eyes, and in their shoes.”

More information about this display is available on the Department of History website. The display will be up until the end of the term.
