Take Action: Equity Data Survey | Update and Action Plan

Thursday, May 26, 2022

The University of Waterloo launched its pilot Equity Survey in June 2021 and paused data collection after October 31, 2021 with an intention to continue data collection in early 2022. Launching the survey took much energy and work from many across our campuses.

More than 4,500 employees have participated in the survey so far, with a 43% response rate overall. The response rates of the first round of the data collection were high for some categories of employees and some faculties and departments, and much lower for others.

What is happening now?

The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Office and the Office of Indigenous Relations are working with Institutional Analysis and Planning to develop both short and long term solutions for the systematic collection of this demographic data.

As a first step, we are briefly re-opening the survey to all employees to allow as many as possible to participate and gather more reliable data.

We need to hear from you. Adding your voice to the equity data collected will help create a more complete picture of who is among our campus community members.

How to participate

The survey only takes about 5 minutes and can be accessed securely through an alert in Workday. We hope everyone will submit their responses by June 17th so we can get a complete picture of our campus community.
