In collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President, Research (OVPR), Information Systems & Technology (IST), and colleagues across the Faculties, I am pleased to announce the selection of Waterloo’s new Electronic Coversheet System, scheduled for release in early 2027.
The Electronic Coversheet is a core part of the University’s research administration process. It supports the internal review and approval of research funding proposals and helps ensure that proposals are routed appropriately before submission to external sponsors. The new system is intended to provide a more sustainable, supported platform while maintaining the core coversheet process that researchers, administrators, and approvers rely on today.
This launch is intentionally like-for-like, with targeted modifications needed to support the move to the new platform. The immediate goal is a smooth transition that minimizes disruption. Over time, the new system will also provide a stronger foundation for future enhancements, improved support, and better access to reporting.
In the meantime, please log in to the existing cover sheet system and process any in-progress cover sheets through the approval workflow. You may also use the system to download your historical records for your own safekeeping.
More information will be sent to you in the upcoming weeks about our go-live date, transition period away from the existing Electronic Cover Sheet system, and information sessions regarding the new system.
