Knowledge mobilization community of practice

The intention of the Knowledge Mobilization Community of Practice (CoP) at the University of Waterloo is to bring together practitioners from departments, centres and institutes that facilitate Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) across the University community.

Our network:

  • Builds peer relationships that support information exchange.
  • Provides a platform for sharing KMb practices, events and experience.
  • Enhances UW KMb capacity.
  • Supports the career development of its members.

Principles

  • Close the loop between theory and practice of KMb.
  • Co-learning and collaboration.
  • Collective ownership and decentralized leadership.

Objectives

  • Build networks and relationships with others doing similar work; promote new collaborations and connections.
  • Promote knowledge exchange by working across departmental boundaries and sharing ideas (e.g., share relevant articles/resources).
  • Provide a platform for learning (e.g., sharing best practices, services and tools, developing technical skills, new ways of doing things, relevant events, etc).
  • Enhance Waterloo's institutional capacity to maximize innovation and the impact of its academic research and assess progress.
  • Support career development for Knowledge Mobilizers.

Membershp

Members of the CoP are those individuals from the Waterloo who self-identify as practitioners of KMb. Ideally we attract staff, faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who are working directly to support research impact.

To learn more about the CoP activities and how to join, please contact Nadine Quehl, KMb CoP Chair at nquehl@uwaterloo.ca.
