Researchers at the University of Waterloo are invited to a virtual information session about the Alliance Society program with a representative of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The NSERC Alliance Society program supports collaborative research projects that address important societal challenges through partnerships between Canadian university researchers and organizations from the private, public or not-for-profit sectors. Alliance Society is intended for projects where societal impact is the primary driver, requiring meaningful engagement with the communities or groups affected by the research, and NSERC provides 100% of eligible project funding (with partners contributing in-kind support.
Alliance Society projects must seek to respond to a research challenge in the natural sciences or engineering. Developing and implementing policies or directly applying your research results may depend on socio-economic or other requirements, as well as scientific understanding beyond the natural sciences and engineering (NSE). You are encouraged to collaborate with academic researchers in fields other than the NSE. Research costs for these collaborations and/or activities outside the NSE can represent up to 30% of the project costs.
The presentation will be 45 minutes (approx.) followed by an open question-and-answer session.
When: Wednesday, September 9, 2026 | 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Where: This is a virtual event.
