Horizon Europe information session

The Office of Research is hosting information sessions with Luigi Scarpa-de-Masellis, Senior Advisor, Economic and Commercial Affairs, Delegation of the European Union on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Two sessions are being offered for convenience. Waterloo faculty and staff members are welcome to register for either the in-person or online session.

When: Thursday, February 29, 2024

Sessions (will include a 30-minute presentation and 30-minute Q & A):

10 - 11 a.m. In-person in EC5 1111 (Enterprise Theatre)

2 - 3 p.m. Online via MS Teams

During the session, Mr. Scarpa-de-Masellis will speak about Canada's new status as an associate country under Pillar II with Horizon Europe, a €53 billion research program that focuses on Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness.

Canada's association to Pillar II allows Canadians pursuing project calls to receive grant funds, as either a lead or collaborating institution, directly from the European Commission and recognizes Canadians as one of three core partners to build a consortium. This represents very exciting and extensive research funding opportunities for Waterloo researchers, with a chance to contribute to consortia undertaking globally important and impactful research.
