Linda Nazar, Distinguished Professor at the University of Waterloo, has been awarded the 2026 NSERC Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering, Canada’s highest recognition for scientific excellence. Her transformative research in electrochemical energy storage has laid the foundation for safer and more efficient battery technologies, contributing to the global transition to sustainable energy, clean transportation and electrification. Valued at up to $1 million over five years, the award recognizes researchers whose work has had a transformative impact in their field.
