Waterloo researchers awarded more than $7.1 million in funding

More than 100 University of Waterloo researchers have been awarded over $7.1 million through NSERC programs to advance research in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum science, climate resilience, health innovation and other emerging fields. The funding includes Discovery Grants for 108 researchers, additional support for early-career faculty, investments in specialized research equipment and infrastructure, and funding for subatomic physics research. As part of a broader $630 million federal investment in Canadian research, these grants provide the long-term flexibility and resources needed to pursue groundbreaking discoveries, develop innovative technologies, train future research talent and strengthen Waterloo’s impact through collaboration with industry, government and community partners.
