The University of Waterloo has welcomed two internationally recognized researchers as its inaugural Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs through a major Government of Canada initiative designed to attract world-leading research talent to Canada. Dr. Talia Bettcher and Dr. James Wolffsohn will lead transformative research programs focused on gender-based violence prevention, trans community resilience, equitable eye care and vision-loss prevention. Their appointments strengthen Waterloo’s role as a global research and innovation hub while advancing research that supports Canada’s health, social and economic priorities.
The program is administered through Canada’s federal granting agencies, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
